Audrig for iOS

Privacy Policy

§ 1

Overview

Audrig ("the App") is a music player for iOS developed by Martin Mellström, an individual developer based in Sweden. This Privacy Policy describes how the App handles your information.

The short version: Audrig does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to the developer. No account is required, and no tracking or analytics are used.

§ 2

Data We Do Not Collect

The developer does not collect any personal information from you. Specifically:

  • No name, email address, or other identifying information is collected.
  • No usage data, listening history, or behavioral data is collected or transmitted to the developer.
  • No crash reporting or analytics SDKs that transmit data to the developer are present in the App.
  • No advertising identifiers (IDFA) are accessed or used.
  • No advertising networks or third-party trackers are integrated.
  • No account registration is required to use the App.

The only network communication the App performs is directly between your device and Dropbox's servers (for Dropbox) or Apple's iCloud infrastructure (for iCloud Drive), using your own authorization.

§ 3

Dropbox Integration

Audrig connects to your personal Dropbox account using the official Dropbox API and OAuth 2.0 authorization. The following applies to this integration:

  • The App requests access to your Dropbox in order to allow you to browse folders and stream audio files you select. The App only reads folder structure and file content for playback purposes.
  • The only write operation the App performs is the one-time creation of an /AudRig folder in your Dropbox root, if it does not already exist.
  • Your Dropbox credentials are never transmitted to the developer. Authentication is handled entirely by Dropbox's own authorization flow.
  • An OAuth access token is stored locally on your device (in the iOS Keychain) solely to maintain your connection between sessions. This token never leaves your device to any server other than Dropbox's.
  • You can revoke the App's access to your Dropbox at any time via dropbox.com → Connected Apps. Revoking access removes the App's ability to read or write any data in your Dropbox.
  • Dropbox's own Privacy Policy governs how Dropbox handles your data. You can review it at dropbox.com/privacy.
§ 4

iCloud Drive Integration

Audrig can optionally access audio files stored in your iCloud Drive. This integration uses Apple's standard file access APIs and does not require a separate login — the App uses your existing iCloud account as already configured on your device. Enabling iCloud Drive access is entirely optional.

What data the App accesses

  • File metadata (names, sizes, modification dates) and audio file content within folders you have explicitly selected or linked in the App. The App only reads folders you have chosen to connect — it does not browse or access your iCloud Drive broadly.
  • The App does not write to, modify, or delete any files in your iCloud Drive.

Why the App accesses this data

  • To display the contents of folders you have linked for in-app browsing.
  • To stream and temporarily cache audio files from those folders for local playback.

How your data is handled

  • No iCloud credentials or tokens are handled by the App. File access is mediated entirely by iOS using your existing iCloud session — nothing related to your iCloud account is stored, transmitted, or processed by the developer.
  • Your audio files are never transmitted to the developer or any third-party server.
  • Audio files may be temporarily cached on your device for playback performance. This cache is stored in the App's local sandbox and is removed when you delete the App.

How to revoke access

  • You can remove any linked iCloud Drive folder from within the App at any time.
  • You can also revoke the App's access to iCloud Drive entirely in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Files & Folders, and removing Audrig from the list.

Apple's iCloud service and its privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Audrig accesses iCloud Drive files only within folders you have explicitly selected, for browsing and playback purposes. No iCloud data is transmitted to the developer or any third party.

§ 5

In-App Purchase and Apple

Audrig offers a one-time in-app purchase ("Premium Unlock") processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. The developer has no access to your payment information or Apple ID details.

  • The App uses Apple's StoreKit framework to verify purchase entitlements. This verification occurs between your device and Apple's servers only.
  • No purchase or transaction data is transmitted to or stored by the developer.
  • Apple's Privacy Policy governs data collected in connection with your App Store purchase. You can review it at apple.com/legal/privacy.
§ 6

Data Stored on Your Device

Some information is stored locally on your device to provide a functional experience. This data never leaves your device to the developer's servers:

  • Dropbox OAuth token — stored in the iOS Keychain to maintain your Dropbox connection between sessions.
  • iCloud Drive folder references — bookmarks to folders you have linked are stored locally on your device. No iCloud credentials or tokens are stored by the App.
  • Audio file cache — audio files you choose to make available offline are stored locally on your device. You can remove them at any time from within the App.
  • Waveform and metadata cache — waveform visualizations and file metadata are cached locally to improve performance. This data is derived solely from your own files.
  • Playback preferences — settings such as EQ, playback speed, and loop preferences are stored locally using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults).

All locally stored data can be removed by deleting the App from your device.

§ 7

Children's Privacy

Audrig is not directed at children under the age of 13. The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can address the matter promptly.

§ 8

Third-Party Services

The App interacts with the following third-party services:

  • Dropbox — for accessing your audio files via Dropbox. Their privacy practices are governed by Dropbox's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple iCloud Drive — optionally, for accessing audio files in folders you select. iCloud Drive is part of Apple's platform and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple App Store / StoreKit — for processing in-app purchases. Their privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

No other third-party services, SDKs, or APIs are used in the App.

§ 9

Your Rights (GDPR)

As the App is developed in Sweden and subject to the laws of the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. Because the developer does not collect or process any personal data about you, there is no personal data held by the developer for you to access, correct, or request deletion of.

If you have questions about the data Dropbox or Apple holds about you, please refer to their respective privacy policies and contact them directly.

If you have any concerns about your privacy in relation to the App, please contact us using the details below.

§ 10

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
